Dear Colleagues, Instructors, Coaches, Athletes, and Parents:       

Please join us for our annual Great Falls Invitational Taekwondo Tournament. This year’s tournament will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the C.M. Russell High School Fieldhouse 228 17^th Avenue NW, Great Falls, MT  59404. (The same venue as years past). The events for this year’s tournament will be: Individual and Team Traditional Forms, Individual and Team Creative Forms, Individual Sparring, Tag Team Sparring, and 4 Board Breaking events.  We will be using the National Hanmadang rules for the Forms and Board Breaking events.  A round-robin format will be used for Olympic style Individual Sparring. Single Elimination will be used for the Tag-Team Sparring event.

We are pleased to announce the 52^nd Karlo Fujiwara Memorial Taekwondo/Judo Tournament, in honor of Grand Master Karlo Fujiwara, scheduled for Saturday, April 21, 2018. The Tournament will be held at the MSU-Billings Alterowitz Gym. Read our invite letter, register, and review the rules with our files below.

The Black Belt exam will be held on Friday, November 10th at Big Sky Martial Arts; the tournament will be held Saturday, November 11th at Glacier High School use the North entrance.

MTA Referee Certification seminar September 30th 5 pm at Championship Training in Missoula MT. 3821 Stephens. The seminar will begin at 5 pm.

Schedule of Events

9:15 AM              Referee/Judges/Volunteers Meeting

9:45 AM               National Anthem, Presenting of Honor Guard Colors, Opening Ceremonies

10:00 AM           Competition begins with Individual Events first and Team Events afterwards

3 PM                    Tear Down and Clean-up

• BOARDS will be provided for all competitors by the MTA Hanmadang Committee
• For ages 5-10 years old: lighter and modified boards will be provided for breaking events
• PLEASE LISTEN for your event to be called and report to holding ASAP! Competitors will be given a list of their events at check-in so they can refer to it throughout the day.
• DIVISIONS will be broken down by belt color where applicable.
• TEAM TRADITIONAL FORMS can have any mix of belt levels but can only perform a form appropriate for the lowest belt ranking member on the team. (Example: If your team has yellow, green and blue belts, you can only perform Taegeuk 1 or 2.)
• ALL CREATIVE FORMS allow for any acrobatic moves that may enhance the form if the competitor so chooses. MUSIC is highly encouraged!
• MUSIC must be provided by the competitor with a device that has a jack that plugs into speakers at the ring (iPad, cell phone, iPod, etc). If you are choosing to use Bluetooth, you must provide your own speaker with your device.
